Inspirations and Humor

At the very beginning of my journey, I was fortunate enough to join hearts and determined spirits with an amazing group of Survivors.  Aside from the fact that we are all dealing with breast cancer in one way or another, I noticed immediately the ability and desire to share Inspirations and Humor.  I will be sharing those inspirations, be they writings by the Survivors or links they've provided.

The humor...when I felt myself spiriling down into that "dark hole" of fear and depression and loneliness, I made a bee-line for the forum where some of the most outrageous jokes I've ever come across are posted.  Sometimes, I just laugh myself sick and walk away with a chuckle in my heart; sometimes I laugh through my tears  -- I always come away feeling lighter.  Laughter truly is "magical medicine".

To my sisters and brothers in combat, my deepest appreciation.  I salute you!

A Toast

Here's to facing down the demons,
For living with the foe.
For comforting our loved ones
When fear is all we know.
For making our decisions
When panic is setting in.
For walking down the lonesome trail
To find ourselves again.
For standing up against the odds,
For fighting the good fight.
For making ways of getting through
Each long and sweaty night!
For knowing when to say "Enough!",
And when to push ahead.
For giving help to those behind
Then taking help instead.
So raise your glasses,
Raise them high!
Raise them for the ones who live,
And for the ones who die.
Let our voices be as one
To the powers that be.
Asking for the end to come
To this plague on humanity.
